Abstract
-
rom the construction and content of Honchô Tsugan and Dai Nihonshi, this study explores the changes in the historical perspectives of the two history books and compares the sameness and differences in terms of the reception of Confucianism among the political leaders and the concepts of the Rule of Virtue. The author discusses the social changes and transition from Japan’s military ruling to civil governance and further analyzes the similarities and differences between the two history books of the Northern and Southern Dynasties and its connection with modernization and Meiji Restoration in early modern Japan.
